The collaboration between the OKR Institute and DB Schenker, a global leader in logistics and transportation, focused on training the company\’s Middle Management to implement Objective and Key Results (OKRs) effectively. This initiative aimed to enhance strategic execution, improve alignment across teams, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

DB Schenker encountered several obstacles in the adoption of OKRs:

  • Understanding and Buy-In: Middle Management lacked a comprehensive understanding of the OKR framework, leading to challenges in buy-in and effective implementation.
  • Alignment and Coordination: Ensuring that OKRs were aligned across different levels of the organization and departments presented a significant challenge.
  • Sustainability of Adoption: Establishing a system for the sustainable adoption and ongoing management of OKRs within the middle management layer was crucial.

The partnership yielded significant benefits for DB Schenker:

  • Enhanced Strategic Execution: Middle Management\’s ability to effectively implement and manage OKRs led to improved strategic execution and operational efficiency.
  • Improved Alignment and Collaboration: The initiative fostered greater alignment and collaboration within and across teams, ensuring a unified approach towards achieving the company\’s strategic objectives.
  • Cultural Shift towards Continuous Improvement: The training and ongoing support facilitated a shift in culture towards continuous improvement, with Middle Management playing a crucial role in driving this transformation.
